PTG's Guide To Forzatography - Part 3
So now that you're equipped with your settings tools and you have an idea of compositions and the term 'Rule of Thirds' it's time to look at one of the most powerful tools within the Forza game, The Sunshine! Yep! that big bright thing in the sky!
The sun in Forza provides as much or as little light as you require depending on where you position the camera. All the photo's your about to see are all set to default settings to really express how powerful the light of the sun can be.
The following picture's represent the minimum and maximum of the sun's exposure in a shot, whilst minimum has very little effect maximum over exposes the shot.
This shot show's how the use of light can be draped over the car from a side and used to your advantage.
In this shot the sun is behind the camera and does very little, this position can be one of the hardest to tweak by use of settings so if you're new to forzatography you would do well to avoid this.
The main reason for the sun's light being such a powerful tool is not just the use of the light itself but the use of the sun's ray's. When positioning the sun correctly within your shot and with the use of composition you can capture some remarkable shot's even with default settings. Pay attention to the track your on too. Each track can vary in its sun's height and distance which can change the environment's lighting quite dramatically. Some tracks lend themselves to sunshine shot's where as others will require more tweaking.
Here are some shot's from around the various track's all of which were taken using default settings.
Nurburg GP
Prague
Sebring
Sonoma
Monza
In the last example of track variation those with keen eyes will notice that the tree's are effecting the way the light and sun rays fall onto the track and into the shot. Tree's can act as a very good way to filter the sunlight as can any other object or building you find around the tracks and environments within Forza.
Here are some shot's that use the environment to change the way the suns acts within a shot.
So there you have it, the sun is your friend!
As always, Happy Shooting!
