Was hammering this the other day, I think I must of got better as a driver or they toned the physics down as I was crushing the AI on 90% (100% isn't much quicker but it bulldozes you out the way and on one occaision pushed me sideways down the length of the hanger straight).
Copied from iRacing site, (not sure if up to date).
Host pays for session. Participants race for free.
Private race sessions (which are sessions that you decide to host on your own with your own private password or open session) are charged at 50 cents per hour for the session host only. You can select a 2 hour session for $1, a 4 hour session for $2, or a 6 hour session for $3. In addition, we offer a volume discount of 25% off the price once you purchase 6 hosted session in a 30 day rolling period.
The AC gameplay/sim aspect is really good. Both iRacing and PCars are better IMO but it's not a large gap. Very small track/car selection and the user interface could be run on a Gameboy.

Nice Ducky, I'll have to check out R3E.
Claret- have you been able to find anything regarding wheel support? I only looked for a bit this morning, and it cost me $50 because now I have to buy a Steam Link lol

R3E has also just had a massive physics update to and it is free (untill you want car etc). and if you have a decent set of speakers the sound is amazing!!!
You can do private racing as long as you have a wiz kid able to understand how to run a private server. They just run their pc as a dedicated server and you can lock a lobby with a password for privacy.
The entrants must run the same content (mods etc) to be able to join.
................ Claret...Steam machines wont run AC as steam machines run LINUX and not windows. (as far as I am aware).
edit..Doh, just read your previous post claret. Get a proper pc.
Think there is a dedicated server download on Steam for the game. I can find out how to do it from a friend if you like, as he runs one for us with ETCC practice sessions. Leaves it open when not on, but is locked to what ever he sets it at.
TBH you can prob get a PC for 500 too claret that'll do the same as the steam machine
Don't think you'll get a 500 quid PC, able to play games on ultra, you'd still need to buy moniter and other peripherals. Steam machine plugs into TV, and comes with controller, and is a bit smaller than the xbone. Considering how powerful it is, comparing it to xbone, it sounds right for me. Plus price will drop soon enough.
Yea claret, i can see it bridging the gap between pc games and console. Im liking the idea. Also, being that it is dedicated to run games I wonder if you will have any of the compatability issues of pc gaming. I also wonder how it will work with mods... Alot of the most popular games are popular because of community mods. If you can add them to this then surely it will be pretty good.
