I had an incident last night. I was watching Hulu through the Xbox using the video controller (the 3 or 4 inch rectangular one). But when I was ready to play Forza I didn't power down the console through the video controller like I usually do then restart it for Forza. I didn't even quit the Hulu app. I just plugged the wheel straight up and inserted the disc.
The game goes to load, tells me to hit A for the menu, then the little circle starts spinning but you can tell it starts pausing. Then it just completely freezes, music freezes, and a few seconds later it crashes back to the dashboard. So I've caused this problem by not powering down correctly.
But what got me frustrated is that every remedy I knew to try didn't work. On the first general restart the console said it wasn't connected to Xbox Live so I restarted my modem, still froze and crashed.
Held power button for reboot, waited 30 seconds, still froze and crashed. Unplugged power source for a few minutes, still froze and crashed.
Restarted console using video controller, pulled Hulu back up, quit app correctly, shut down console, restarted, still froze and crashed. Tried just hitting A to reload game from dashboard, still froze and crashed. Starting to get very frustrated.
Tried holding down power button for reboot another two or three times but still didn't work. On the last power up I just kept hitting A to reload from dashboard. After about the 4th time doing that it finally loaded completely.
Did I miss trying anything that could have worked sooner because this took well over 30 minutes or so for it to finally work?
Like I said earlier I caused this so I have nothing or no one else to blame for it. I've been very good about completely powering down the console when changing over from app to game or game to game but for some reason I just got a brain fart this time and tried to short cut it. Never again.
