1987 Porsche 959 Rally & Race
Double Duty – Dakar to LeMans
Built as a racing technology showcase platform by Porsche, the 959 had a very brief but notable racing career. The first fully-equipped 959 rally variant made its racing debut in the 1985 Paris-Dakar Rally. It did not finish that year but the 959 returned next year and won the 1986 Paris-Dakar Rally under driver René Metge.
Later that same year, Metge also piloted the 959 circuit racing variant (961) to an impressive 1st in class and 7th overall finish in the 1986 24 Hours of Le Mans … in the car’s debut in circuit racing.
The cancellation of Group B at the end of 1986 effectively ended the racing career of the 959 … but at its launch to the public, it was the fastest and most technologically advanced production car in the world.
PTG Presents
PTG proudly presents both variants tuned and painted to perform and look like these historic 959s. The #186 Paris-Dakar Rally winning rally variant driven by René Metge and Dominque Lemoyne in 1986 … and the #203 circuit racing variant driven by René Metge, Claude Haldi and Kees Nierop in the 1987 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Rally Tune – “PTG Rally” The Porsche 959 S1 rally tune is suitable for all of the Horizon 3 racers that need a car that can race in all conditions that the Horizon festivals provide. A real cross country tune and still a supercar.
Race Tune v1 – “PTG Race” The Porsche 959 S1 road tune is a very stable, full aero all-wheel drive supercar that stays true to its supercar roots. You will find yourself feeling very confident while running this car.
Race Tune v2 – “PTG Race” The Porsche 959 S2 on road tune is the mental BIG brother to the other previous tunes. Equipped with the 918 Hybrid drivetrain and the addition of twin turbos makes the car launch like the space shuttle with a top speed of 270 mph.
